Why Did God Say ‘‘You Must Not Have Any Other God But Me?’’
Well, if we have to understand this, we must realize that this is the first commandment given by God amongst the Ten Commandments.
You must not have any other god but me.
You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

It means that, that matters to God a lot, and there could be grave consequences for breaking this.
If we need to understand how severe the consequences could be, then we need to understand that the whole earth, was created by God the Father.
To worship any other author could mean, you’re dethroning God from His throne.
It is much as giving His seat to another ‘Man.’ This means that, you should not give your heart to any man or anything first place in your heart or life. It means, that person or thing created the universe, the earth and you-a reason why you owe your first allegiance to. However, if you realize that it’s absolutely not so, then you can’t put them first place in Your Life.
